Fee accuracy & data sources
Fee data on UnifyPay is indicative reference information, not a quotation. Rates change without notice, vary by contract, volume, risk profile and card mix, and many local rails publish no rate card at all. Always confirm against your provider's own pricing before making a commercial decision.
Where the numbers come from
Every fee carries a basis label saying how well supported it is. Treat them differently, because they are different:
- Published rate
- Read from the provider’s own public pricing page, with the source URL recorded and linked. The strongest evidence available, but still a list price, your contract may differ.
- Reported rate
- A scheme- or regulator-set rate, or a figure reported consistently across reliable sources. Examples: a central bank capping a QR merchant fee, or a zero-MDR mandate.
- Estimate
- Representative of that kind of rail in that market. Most local providers publish no merchant rate card at all, so this is the honest label for them. Directionally useful for comparison; not a number to quote back to a provider or put in a business case.
Known limitations
- Banded and tiered tariffs are flattened. Mobile money and agent networks usually price in bands by amount. We model a single effective percentage, which loses the band structure.
- Interchange-plus is shown blended. Where a provider prices as interchange + scheme fee + margin, we show a typical all-in effective rate for a mixed consumer card mix. Your actual mix will differ.
- Currency conversion is indicative. Cross-currency comparisons use a daily reference rate, not a dealable one.
- History begins when we started tracking. Rates recorded before that point are reconstructed from documented events and interpolation, and are labelled accordingly.
- Pages change. Automated checks are reviewed by a person before anything goes live, so a provider can change its pricing before we notice.
No warranty
UnifyPay publishes this data “as is”, without warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for any purpose. We accept no liability for loss arising from reliance on it. It is reference information for comparison and research, not financial, accounting or legal advice, and not a substitute for a quotation from a provider.
